We are now half-way through the Final of the OFM World Championships 2010, but who is still in contention, and who has fallen by the way-side?
Whilst it is clearly still far too early to tell, the half-way signs are that the pre-tournament favourites, the Portuguese, are struggling. After their domination of OFM in recent years, it seems this could be coming to an end, with the highest placed Portuguese at this stage lying in 5th, behind representatives from four different countries.
Leading the way so far with 30 points is Kanarifuglene's Dutch maestro Petter Inge Skjolberg, who was actually champion of the inaugural event in 2007. Could lightening be about to strike twice? However, hot on his heels, only a point back, are gheorghe sorin, from the Panzers of Romania, and Da Management's cfcpaul. Gheorghe's all-out attack policy seems to be working, scoring a whopping 35 times already, and amassing a GD of 21; 11 better than anyone else can muster! Concentrating more on his defence is Upcoming Stars Bulgarian representative Doffman, who has conceded only 6 times in 15 games. At only two points further back, Doffman will certainly still harbour hopes of winning, as will the majority of the Finalists, and with the main pack being separated, there could still be a charge from someone to snatch the title, but with 15 games still to play, and 45 points still to be won, the race for the prize of OFM World Champion 2010 is very definitely still on.
