OFM World Championships Final

The 2010 World Championships have entered the final stage, but who is still in contention?

The Semi Finals finished at the weekend, and proved to be clearer than predicted, with the majority of the finalists known several games before the end.

In Semi Final A, Joao M.V. Guarino, the reigning champion, waltzed away to the league title by a mammoth 8 points, and was the only one of the 32 Semi Finalists to break the 60 point barrier, amassing 64 points. NelsonACS, with the best defensive record in the Semi's, conceding a miserly 24 goals, Petter Inge Skjolberg and Valdrin Maloku all qualified comfortably in 2nd-4th, over 15 points ahead of qualification, and they were joined by Pi Antas G Onofre, RobertoSilva, mr onlinedragon and Doffman who all squeezed through in 5th-8th, but the gap between managing to qualify (8th) and just missing out (9th) was a comfortable 6 points.
In the more attack-minded Semi Final B, Reidar Vagnes won the award for the most goals scored with a whopping 77, one ahead of league winner gheorghe sorin (76). Joining gheorghe at the top of the league was cfcpaul, who lost the fewest times (5) of all Semi Finalists. Romanians Doru Vasile and unguru bulan joined their compatriot gheorghe in the final, as did Reidar and Chvu, all securing qualification with several games to spare. They were joined by another Romanian, nnane, and Filipe A7, who squeezed through by a couple of points apiece (3 and 2 respectively).

Turning our attention to the Final, the winner could come from any background. With 6 Portuguese in the final, they are the most likely, although with 4 Romanians and 3 Dutch competing too, their countrymen will be hoping one of them emerges victorious. Bulgaria, England and Albania all contribute a manager apiece too. In the Crew World, the Panzers of Romania and Kanarifuglene, with 4 Finalists apiece, look the most likely, although with the pick of the Portuguese crews, Lusos (3) and the Force (2), just behind them, anything could happen. Upcoming Stars, Da Management and Alma Lusitana all contribute a Finalist apiece.

With the games due to begin tonight, and all 16 managers agreeing to play without ST's/TC's and equally against each opponent, the Final should be a fascinating spectacle, and remember you can follow it all in the league.

Good Luck to all 2010 World Championships Finalists
