What does a League Manager do all day ?

I organise volunteers to provide updates for all of the national and other leagues available on OFM. I also like to keep my hand in and update some myself.

I have written the Guide for League Updaters and improved the spreadsheet updaters use to provide their leagues, making their jobs as easy as I can

I work closely with Stefan Jovanovic, who supports me on various projects, from recruiting, sending out materials, checking updates and forwarding them onto Gamebasics for implementation. We also work 'behind the scenes' a lot, constantly checking leagues to ensure they are up to date, and making changes to the OFM Scoutlist as and when they are needed.

We are currently reviewing our recruitment policy to ensure that league updates are allocated to managers with the best knowledge. To that end, we anticipate that most vacancies will be filled during 2012 without the need to advertise. We have a pool of reliable updaters who we will draw upon should the need arise.

We will consider suggestions for new leagues, but only between December and February each year as we are busy updating our current leagues at other times. We also have to consider how popular a league will be before it goes live. To save yourself a lot of time, never just go ahead and do a league - it may not be accepted, or may even have been updated already by someone else !

Have you always been a League Manager ?

No - I started as a forum moderator, then became a support staff member. I then graduated to Head of OFM, but stepped down when it started interfering with my other true passion, rescuing wild hedgehogs here in the UK. I have been 'in charge' of League Updates for as long as I care to remember, but in 2012 am confident that this year's update campaign will be our best yet, with the best people picked for the job.
